Royal Visit to Teignbridge

by Alistair Dewhirst on 26 October, 2010

The visit of HRH The Princess Royal to Forde House on Wednesday 20th October was a tremendous success.   The invitation had been extended to commemorate the 400th Anniversary of Forde House.   The opportunity was taken to acknowledge some of the excellent work being undertaken in the area and showcase some of our local talent.   The Princess demonstrated a real interest in the programme which included rural housing, recycling with Wolborough School and restorative justice.   Natalie Melmore, Newton Abbot’s Commonwealth Games gold medal winning bowler was also presented to HRH. All 80 guests thoroughly enjoyed themselves.

There was a tremendous atmosphere in the House helped in part by the sounds of the Stover school choir. The fine weather showed the house and grounds to best effect.   The event passed with impeccable precision and it was a very fitting way to celebrate the 400th Anniversary of Forde House.
