I had just popped home for lunch today after visiting supporters in Denbury and Abbotskerswell when the doorbell rang.   A clearly lost candidate called on me to ask if I would sign his nomination to stand for the Green Party!

It seems that as he doesn’t live in Teignbridge South he was out canvassing for people to sign his nomination papers to enable him to stand as a candidate in the County Council elections.

I pointed out to him that if he was really keen on getting green issues raised at Devon County he ought to join my campaign for real on the ground green issues like stopping the Tory Tip Tax and raising our re-cycling rate.

At the last County Council election there was a successful Green Party candidate in Totnes who soon defected to the Labour Party stating that Green Party members were extremists who wanted people to live in mud huts.
